About Us

Hello and Welcome to Pack 4444, sponsored by the Parents of Wasatch Front Scouting!

Program Overview
We have an active Cub Scout Pack! We generally follow the school year, kicking off our weekly meetings in late August and running through the end of the school year in late May/early June, with a one day Cub Scout Day Camp as well as other outdoor activities during the summer. We have a good balance of activities and strive to help the boys and girls work toward earning awards (belt loops and pins) and rank advancements. Some of our favorite traditions are:

  • Kickoff in August
  • Open House and Campout in September
  • Trunk or Treat for Halloween
  • Thanksgiving Feast in November
  • Holiday Festival in December
  • Service Project in January
  • Blue & Gold Banquet in February
  • Pinewood Derby in March
  • Bike Derby in April
  • Raingutter Regatta in May
  • Crossing Over in June
  • Family Camp in June
  • Cub Scout Day Camp in the summer
  • Outdoor Activities in the summer

Organization (Pack vs. Dens)
Cub Scouts are all part of the “Pack” but also divided into smaller groups, called “Dens”. We currently have the following Dens and welcome both boys and girls to join:

  • Lions (Kindergarten)
  • Tigers (1st Grade)
  • Wolves (2nd Grade)
  • Bears (3rd Grade)
  • Webelos (4th Grade)
  • Arrow of Light (5th Grade)

Volunteer Opportunities
We are run by parent volunteers and love parents to pitch in! Please let us know if you would like to become a Den Leader, Pack Committee Member, or other volunteer. We are always looking for help!

Uniforms
Cub Scouts love to wear their uniforms! You can buy a Uniform (includes a shirt, neckerchief, neckerchief slide, hat, Crossroads of the West Council Patch, and 4444 Pack numbers) at the Scout Shop in Orem (directions below). For our Pack, blue Cub Scout pants are optional, but once the Cub Scouts become Webelos or AOL Scouts they should transition to wearing a Tan Scout Uniform short and green Scout pants. The Den Leaders or people at the Scout Shop can help you figure it all out!

Our Troops for older Scouts (Troop 1444 for Boys and Troop 3444 for Girls) pride themselves on wearing full uniforms to meetings and to and from campouts and other activities, which fosters a sense of belonging and really sets our Troops apart.  Cub Scouts can prepare for Scouts by wearing their uniforms.  We also provide each Cub Scout with up to one new Class B (Yellow) Activity T Shirt each year to wear on activities, service projects, etc.  Additional shirts may be purchased through our Pack.

The Cub Scouts have different neckerchiefs and neckerchief slides for each level, including Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos / Arrow of Light. It is fun to change every year. We transition to the next level at the annual Crossing Over in the Spring.

ScoutBook.com
Once you and your Cub Scout are registered, you will receive a link to join ScoutBook.com.  This is the official Scouting online platform that we use to track rank advancements and to send email blasts to the whole Pack.  Den Leaders use this platform to record achievements, and we then make sure to pick up Awards for each scout to give out at Pack Meetings.  We use GroupMe to send text messages to all of the parents, so it is a good idea to download this app on your iPhone or Android device.  Individual dens use GroupMe, text, or email to communicate weekly meeting plans.  We have a private Facebook page as well, Wasatch Front Scouting Pack 4444, which is a good place to find out about upcoming activities, ask questions or share information with other parents, or to share photos after events.  Simply look for us on Facebook and request access to the page.

Location and Schedule
We meet at Corner Canyon Church (12883 S 1300 E, Draper, UT 84020) every Tuesday evening from August to June, unless otherwise stated (occasionally we meet elsewhere for specific activities).  Meetings run from 6:30-7:30 each week.  Most weekly meetings are Den Meetings, which are meetings held for each age group.  On the 4th Tuesday of each month we hold a Pack Meeting where all of the Dens meet together and Cub Scouts receive awards.  Parents and other family members are encouraged to come to the Pack Meetings.  Cub Scouts are asked to wear full Class A uniforms to Pack meetings.

Registration and Fees
Follow the Registration instructions here. Registration is done online through the Scouting America site. It costs $115 per year to join Scouting. All of those funds go to the national Scouting America organization or the local Council, but not our Pack.

Dues
Once you sign up online and are added to our Pack, our Treasurer will send you an invoice for our Pack Dues, which are $99/year. This covers the Program Year from August through June and is the same regardless of when you sign up. Dues are billed in September or when you join (e.g. if you join halfway through the year).  The reason we charge the same for everyone is because, no matter when you join, you will likely receive all the awards for that year, and awards are our largest single expense as a Pack.  We also hold Pinewood Derby and Raingutter Regatta in the Spring and you will receive kits for those. Other fees, like day camp or campout fees, will be billed to your family’s Scout account and you will receive a statement along with information on how to pay.  We collect all Dues via Zelle, Check (made out to Parents of Wasatch Front Scouting), Venmo, or Square (Credit Card). Payment options are available here.

If you have challenges paying the Dues all at once, we can work with you on a payment plan. Simply contact our Treasurer.
