ABOUT CREW 2444

Crew 2444 is a co-ed Venturing program for young adults ages 14 through 20 who are ready for bigger adventures and greater responsibility. Members pursue activities such as backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, skiing, and other high-adventure experiences.

The crew is planned and led by its members with guidance and safety support from adult advisors. Every activity is an opportunity to build leadership, teamwork, organization, communication, and confidence while having an incredible time together.

You may join Crew 2444 on its own or participate while remaining registered with Troop 1444, Troop 3444, or another local troop.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Scouting turns curiosity into capability—one challenge, campout, and act of service at a time.

▲

Choose Bigger Adventures

Backpack, mountain bike, kayak, raft, rock climb, ski, and take on other high-adventure activities. Crew members help choose experiences that match their interests, abilities, and appetite for challenge.

◆

Plan It Together

Weekly meetings and outdoor adventures give Scouts hands-on opportunities to practice first aid, cooking, navigation, camping, emergency preparedness, equipment care, and other useful skills. Rank advancement and merit badges help each Scout explore new interests and become more capable and self-reliant.

★

Lead the Crew

Leadership in Crew 2444 is active and practical. Members guide discussions, divide responsibilities, solve problems, support one another, and turn ideas into experiences the whole crew can enjoy.

♥

Grow Through Challenge

High adventure builds more than outdoor ability. New challenges help crew members develop resilience, judgment, independence, and the confidence to handle unfamiliar situations wherever life takes them.

HOW THE CREW WORKS

Crew 2444 is led by its members. Young adults decide what adventures they want to pursue, then share responsibility for research, planning, preparation, communication, and execution. Adult advisors provide guidance, help manage safety, and support the crew without taking over.

The flexible format gives members meaningful ownership of the program. Plans may change and challenges will arise, but working through them is part of the experience. Every trip offers a chance to practice good judgment, become more capable, and grow as a team.

1

Choose the Adventure

Crew members propose destinations and activities, compare possibilities, and choose challenges they are excited to pursue together.

2

Build the Plan

The crew researches the route, timing, costs, transportation, equipment, training, and safety needs required to turn the idea into a workable plan.

3

Make It Happen

Members divide responsibilities, prepare carefully, adapt when conditions change, and carry the adventure through from beginning to end.

Crew 2444 meets on a flexible schedule at least once per month. Planning sessions may take place around troop meetings, while hikes, rides, paddling trips, and other activities are often scheduled on Saturdays or weekends.
